     Presented in 1955 as the Roadster des Clubs Champions Européens (French for European Hero Clubs' Cup), and ordinarily known as the European Cup, it was at first a straight knockout competition open just to the bosses of Europe's homegrown associations, with its victor figured as the European club champion. The opposition took on its ebb and flow name in 1992, adding a cooperative gathering stage in 1991 and permitting various participants from specific nations since the 1997-98 season.[1] It has since been extended, and keeping in mind that the greater part of Europe's public associations can in any case just enter their boss, the most grounded associations presently give up to four teams.[2][3] Clubs that completion next-in-line in their public association, having not qualified for the Heroes Association, are qualified for the second-level UEFA Europa Association rivalry, and beginning around 2021, for the third-level UEFA Europa Meeting League.[4]

The opposition has been won by 22 clubs, 13 of which have won it at least a couple of times, and eight effectively shielded their title.[8] Genuine Madrid is the best club in the competition's set of experiences, having won it multiple times, including the initial five seasons and furthermore five of the last nine.[9] Only one club has won all of their matches in a solitary competition on the way to the competition triumph: Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 season.[10] Genuine Madrid are the momentum European heroes, having beaten Liverpool 1-0 in the 2022 last.
